FLORENCE LOWE-LEE, PRESIDENT

Global America Business Institute, Washington, D.C.

 

Ms. Florence Lowe-Lee is Founder and President of the Global America Business Institute (GABI) in Washington, DC. As President of GABI, she oversees the organization’s fellowship programs and education/outreach activities on nuclear and renewable energy issues. Since its establishment in May 2011, GABI has sought to inform policy circles in Washington, DC on various policy-relevant energy topics, with a focus on Korea’s energy situation, international civil nuclear cooperation, renewable energy R&D collaboration, and nuclear fuel cycle issues.

 

Previously, Ms. Lowe-Lee served as the Treasurer and Director of Finance and Publications at the Korea Economic Institute (KEI) for 19 years. At KEI, she was frequently interviewed by the U.S. and Korean media on current issues concerning U.S.-Korea bilateral relations. Ms. Lowe-Lee also organized and supervised programs involving senior government officials and congressional leaders from Korea and the United States.

 

Ms. Lowe-Lee also worked as Deputy Director of Operations for the Massachusetts Senate Ways and Means Committee, where she served as an adviser to the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment in its efforts to launch missions to Korea.

 

Ms. Lowe-Lee holds a B.A. in Neuroscience from Mount Holyoke College and received an M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Columbia University.

 

 

JAY D RICHTER, P.E., C.E.M, MECHANICAL ENGINEER / ENERGY MANAGER

Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois

 

BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Illinois in 1973; Registered professional engineer in Illinois and New Jersey; certified energy manager (CEM) and energy auditor; employed as mechanical engineer by US Army for 40 years and the last five years as the installation energy manager for Public Work at Rock Island Arsenal; member of ASHRAE since 1983; Certificate Member RSES, and licensed chief power plant engineer. Personal: Married to Shirley Richter; two children Jaylee (10) and Gabriel (7); founder and president of KRQC-LP, 107.9 FM

 

 

CORINNA JESS, MANAGER FOR CLEAN ENERGY PROJECTS

German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, Chicago, IL

 

Corinna Jess is the Manager for Clean Energy Projects at the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest. She is responsible for GACC Midwest’s market entry programs related to clean energy and sustainability and has organized numerous business delegations covering topics such as bioenergy, solar, wind, and energy efficiency. As the lead author of the 2014 market study “Biogas and Organic Waste Management in the U.S.” published by the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, she is currently expanding GACC Midwest’s network related to organic waste management and agriculture. Prior to joining GACC Midwest in 2010, Corinna spent three years working in marketing and sales at a large German food manufacturer, as well as one year at an intellectual property and technology firm in the U.K. Corinna holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration from the Berlin School of Economics.

 

 

STEPHEN MARKSCHEID, JINKO SOLAR

Jiangxi and Zhejiang Provinces China

 

Stephen Markscheid is a partner at Wilton Partners, a Shanghai based boutique investment bank.  He also serves as non-executive director of CNinsure, Inc., Jinko Solar Inc., China Ming Yang Wind Group Co. Ltd., and ChinaCast Education Corporation. Steve is also a trustee of Princeton-in-Asia. 

 

From 1998-2006, Steve worked for GE Capital. During his time with GE, Steve led GE Capital's business development activities in China and Asia Pacific, primarily acquisitions and direct investments. Prior to GE, Steve worked with the Boston Consulting Group throughout Asia. Steve was also a commercial banker for ten years in London, Chicago, New York, Hong Kong and Beijing with Chase Manhattan Bank and First National Bank of Chicago. His career began with the US-China Business Council, in Washington D.C. and Beijing. 

 

Steve holds an MBA from Columbia University, an M.A. in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins SAIS, and a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Princeton University. He lived and worked in Asia for over sixteen years, including China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand. Besides his native English, Steve is fluent in Chinese and conversant in Japanese and French.

 

Steve lives with his wife, Veronique, and three children in suburban Chicago.
